Can't recommend this enough! It's a breathable crib mattress. Expensive...but gives you peace of mind. Especially if your baby is an early roller. Also, buy a ton of sheets. I judged Amy for having so many on the registry, but I was mistaken. Ha!

Having a safe place in your room to have the baby sleep is important. -a front carrier! (I recommend either a moby, or one with fantastic back support like an ergobaby)
-footie pjs that either snap or zip up instead of down (makes late night diaper changes easier)
