I love how Mr. Daniels used chess to assess the learning style of Ally- I want to use more authentic ways to get to know my students better.

Another thing I liked was how Mr. Daniels used signals to communicate with specific students. I have a few students in my class who need special instructions and reminders and I like the idea of using hand signals rather than verbally reminding them.
One last thing that really resonated with me was when it talked about going to the office being a "get out of jail free card" for Ally. I never really thought about it that way. I have several students who have some behavior issues in my class and eventually it does get to the point where they need to leave the classroom, but it makes me want to dig even deeper and find the underlying reason for their behavior and not give them the opportunity to "get out of jail" by leaving the classroom.

Kaelah Nelson
