<title>Innatists believe that children pick up on rules and do not necessarily repeat what they hear. The example used in the book uses plural-so a child would assume any plural word ends in S. However, the word Childs is incorrect, it is children, eventually children begin to pick up on the exception to the rules. </title>

<title>In their research of English Speaking mothers with their toddlers it was found that while the toddler is learning to speak, the sentences are short and only have maybe a verb and known, something that the mothers do is to rephrase what they think the child is trying to say. The mother is checking for understanding. Interactionist believe this helps with the vocabulary and grammar development. </title>
