         <description><![CDATA[<div>During the 19th century, Russia was controlled by the Romanov Dynasty.  To make their living they had to rely on serfdom, though they were an agriculturaly strong place, because they were too far and too cold to have affairs with Western Europe. Serfdom was finally abolished in 1861.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Since the death of his father in 1894, Nicholas II ruled Russia as Czar. When he took control, Russia was very far behind the industrial production than the rest of Western Europe. Nicholas increased industrial work but also increased in urban poor, most people still living on farms.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Duma supported Nicholas staying in his place in with his name but would have elected Dumas have the real power of Russia. Nicholas did not like this and didn't want to lose his power so he objected the Dumas.Czar had the power to approve laws and nothing could become a law without his approval first and Czar had the power to take charge of external relations to Russia. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Russia had allied with the French and British before the starting of WWI. A Serbian nationalist had shot and killed the archduke to the Austrian throne starting a series of events leading to WWI. The Serbs need Russia's help because they weren't given enough time to prepare and once the time is up they are able to be attacked by the Austro-Hungarian Army.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Cause Two: Czar Nicholas takes command of the army, 1915</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Russian troops were not as strong as the Western troops and it ended badly with many Russian casualties. There were food and other supplies that were in desperate needs and so that was when Nicholas decided to lead his troops. There were 1.7 million Russian people that had died during the war.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When Czar left for war he decided to leave his wife the Czarina Alexandra who was not prepared at all for it. Rasputin had an influence over Czarina because it was believed that he was her secret lover.  Czarina did not listen to her advisors about Rasputin and instead sort of made themselves an enemy to her. It took three gun shots to ensure the death of rasputin.</div>]]></description>

Troops deployed had refused to keep order and instead decided to join in with the rioters.To abdicate the throne means to give up the throne and the power that comes with it. Nicholas decided to leave his power to the Grand Duke Michael-Alexandrovich.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Bolsheviks were communists followers of the Karl Max in Russia. They appealed to the working class poor because the poor were all looking forward to having some change plus they had little to lose. Lenin had promised Peace, Land, and Bread to the people of Russia. Lenin is basically telling the people that they can not delay the uprising or it could be damaging more for them.</div>]]></description>

The red army supported Lenin whilst the white army was against Lenin. To keep the power they had, the Bolsheviks persecuted all acts of counter-revolution and brought before forward a plan to fight against them.</div>]]></description>

While there, Nicholas and his family were awoken in the middle of the night, take to the basement, and shot dead. Alexi who was the heir was still alive and they knew it because he had moaned from pain and so they shot him a few more times to make sure he died.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There were many assassination attempts on Lenin but the most serious one was a gunshot that pierced his jaw and neck leaving him bed ridden through his last years of reign since they did not want to remove the bullet. Josef Stalin was the new leader of the USSR after Lenin's death in 1924. Josef had ruled the country for over thirty years.</div>]]></description>
