Nearly 100% of German citizens are covered by public or private health insurance (Altenstetter, 2003). There are many positive aspects of nationalized insurance; they have 14 co-payments a year and free preventative screenings for life (Altenstetter, 2003). Even though affordable, there are common values that effect healthcare decisions. The process of making appointments and filling prescriptions can take weeks (Ottonova, 2019). The hospitals are not very accommodating, they do not provide basic toiletries, towels, clothes, etc. Some locals believe that going to the doctor shows a sign of weakness, so they do not go regularly. Nurse Practitioner's and Physician Assistant's are not common, when clients go to the doctor they expect to see the physician or it is a waste of their time.
     Therapeutic spas have a long-standing reputation in the culture. This is so common, that sometimes health insurance covers spa treatments. Despite all the pros and cons about the medical care, they provide high quality care. The physicians are known to be very thorough and efficient (Altenstetter, 2003). They have top tier care, and the people still choose home remedies prior to seeking medical attention.

Things that are considered to be complimentary and alternative medicines are practices such as: acupuncture, homeopathy,  herbal supplements, message therapy, and many more noninvasive treatments. In fact one study states that 85% of practitioners use at least one CAM treatment or more a week with the most common being herbal remedies (Ostermair et. al., 2020).  A survey study on general practitioners discovered that all of them use CAM in their practice along with conventional medicine, in addition roughly half are certified in a field of CAM (Ostermair et. al., 2020).  Another health trend that is becoming prevalent in Germany is the use of a cloud based personal health care system. It is a cloud system that allows smartphone access for the patient to be able to view their records remotely, update med list from scanning barcodes, and being able to connect to Bluetooth health aid devices the patient has (Ploner et. al., 2019).

Slow moving public health
Since the public health system can be slow moving, health promotion and health education are highly evident (EPHA).

New legislation states that citizens can get reimbursed through health insurance for taking preventative health measures, such as exercising and seeing their primary care physician (EPHA).
