Hello everyone!
My name is Madi Schaeffer. I want to thank you for checking out my Online Content Literacy Resource Binder. In this binder, you will find resources such as books, websites, games, technology, Anchor Charts, and more! This can help you with the subjects math, science/health, and social studies instruction for elementary school. With each subject, I provided three different “Big Ideas” from the Missouri Learning Standards. Each Standard includes informational texts, technology, and printable materials. I also added tips and ideas on how to include this into instruction as well as evaluations/citations on all resources. Hope this information will help you!

Title: Shapes, Shapes, Shape
Author/Illustrator: Tara Hoban
Publisher: Greenwillow Books
Published: 1986
City: N/A

Shapes, Shapes, Shapes, is about taking color and black-and-white photos of familiar objects and surroundings that shows letters, numbers, colors, opposites and more. The pictures are more precise and clear than many stylized or abstract drawings. Giving examples of different shapes, like circles, hexagons, parallelograms and stars, she asks the child to find the shapes within the pictures. This books photography gives children the opportunity to see the world around them, not just look at it. I would have students in small groups or individually, look through this book to identify all the different shapes it provides.

Features introduce different categories, from crystals to glow-in-the-dark minerals, and high-resolution images offer a closer look at geological formations. This can help students take one step further by using the catalog and activity pages to help them collect and group rocks, and to discover how different rock types fit into the world around them.
