Story: Santiago receives his call to adventure when he repeatedly has the same dream. He keeps dreaming about a child appearing and playing with his sheep, this child then takes him to the Egyptian Pyramids. Once there the child tells him if he goes there he will find his treasure and his dream ends.

Story: Santiago goes through many tasks along his journey. The first task he goes through is getting robbed in Tangier for all the money he got from his sheep. This leads him to work at a crystal shop. He worked here for 11 months until he had money to return and become a Shepard. He ends up changing his mind because he remembers what the king says and knows that he could always go back, but this was his one shot. The next task he must go through is going with the caravan to Al- Fayoum because there is a tribal war going on and it can go wrong for him. He passes this task and gets to Al- Fayoum safely with a new friend named the Englishman. Story: Once Santiago gets to Al- Fayoum he meets a desert woman named Fatima. As he lays eyes on her he falls in love and starting thinking of departing from his journey and staying with Fatima. He told him his dream was that there was treasure under a sycamore tree back in Spain.
