Do not let yourself be overworked just cause they say it's for a good cause

I would expect the management to respect me as a professional and not treat me like a staff. Everyone is there for a good cause. I feel like I helped free up time for the decision-makers to focus on running the main programme

Interest in the cause, usually because I already engage with it outside volunteering opportunities

• Time commitment and energy. Some volunteer opportunities, while interesting, require a long time commitment, which locks out a lot of time you could be using to do something else. In particular this is a problem when you might find another opportunity you want to do in the future which clashes with your plans, meaning you either have to juggle them or cancel one. 

• I generally expect some level of communication, such as reminding us close to the event and letting us know in advance of any changes e.g. venue, timing. When it comes to purely volunteer run opportunities I don't expect full professionalism, though I do hope for at least politeness.

- I think one thing is probably lessening the load on the planning team. Certain organisations may not have the budget to hire sufficient on site man power, volunteers are definitely a great help for the event day itself to ensure that the event runs well and should anything happen there can be people to help

- If you're not with the organisation from start to end and only during event day, it can get quite confusing especially if something goes wrong, you're not always sure how you're supposed to handle the situation effectively
- If the organisation does not have a clear structure in managing volunteers, sometimes there can be more volunteers booked for the event where not as much help is needed or vice versa resulting in either time wasted or volunteers being overworked

• ARTWALK: helped the programming side by sending out emails and contacting the artist and to liaise with them the details. Day off or prep for artwork
• BLCC cat house workshop: more facilitative role of spreading awareness of cat welfare in light of recent animal violence in the area. Educate the public on animal rights and through the workshop engage them in caring for cats through making houses to be left at void decks. 
• A sector that interests me and that i can see myself working for in the future 
• Volunteering roles can be vague and your role is dependent on the needs of the organisation at the time so you can't fully expect. You feel like the lowest ranked member in the organisation. Man power
• Clear task and to see if the the experience can meet my goals for the volunteering
