The Japanese used their entire army here at the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Here, they used a new tactic called the kamikaze, a suicide bomb that targeted allied ships. This led to 16 ships being sunk and 80 more being damaged from these attacks. Despite the large amounts of damage the Japanese did, this was a disaster for them. In a span of 3 days, the Japanese lost 3 battleships, 4 aircraft carriers, 13 cruisers, and more than 500 planes.

The Battle of Leyte Gulf was a signficant event in WWII. But it had a major impact to the Japanese. Not only did they learn a new tactic that greatly benefited them, but it came with a cost. The cost of losing pilots, power, and the ability to fight. In this Battle, the Japanese lost more than the other allies. Due to the large amounts of kamikaze and the sacrifice of many Japanese lives.

Coral Sea Islands, Australia

The battle of Coral Sea took place on May 4-8, 1942. It was between the US and japanese forces and was taken out between aircraft carriers and airplanes. It was the first aircraft carrier battle ever fought as well as the largest naval battle ever carried out on australia's shores. This battle was a result of the US interception a japanese force heading towards New Guinea. It was considered a victory for the allies as they prevented the japanese from invading New Guinea. Over 15 Japanese ships were sunk as a result of the battle and over 543 men were killed or injured, with 66 aircraft loss, proving the devastating cost of the battle. After the victory it boosted american morale giving them hope toa good outcome in the war. To conclude, the battle of the Coral Sea was a great success for the American allies as they successfully prevented a heavy attack.

Iwo Jima, Iōjima, Ogasawara, Tokyo, Japan

Iwo Jima was an island described by locals as ugly, smelly, and horrific. This island was controlled by Japanese powers during this time. Not only was this island crucial to the Japanese, but it was very crucial to the United States. It would allow them to have loaded bombers that could reach Japan during WWII. Iwo Jima was considered the most heavily defended area in the world, with over 20,700 Japanese guarding it. In the battle, over 6,000 marines died from attempting to take over the island, with only 200 Japanese soldiers surviving the battle.

The Battle of Iwo Jima was a piece of a puzzle that allowed the allies to get closer to Japan. As for several years, the allies have been fighting Japan in order to make them surrender and stop the war between them. Iwo Jima is what helped them invade the island of Okinawa and later successfully defeat Japan.

Pearl Harbor, Hawaii

The Morning of December 7th, 1941 saw Japan Attack the US Naval Base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The Surprise Attack of more than 350 Japanese Aircraft caused the Sinking or Severe Damage to 18 US Naval Vessels, including 8 Battleships, and the Destruction or Damage of 300 US Aircraft, which led to the Deaths of 2,403 Men, they also destroyed 169 US Navy and Army Air Corps Planes.

The Attack caused Americans across the Nation to feel stunned, shocked, and angry, which ultimately led them to support America's entry into the Second World War. Japan's Allies, Germany and Italy, declared War against the United States on December 11th, 1941 after the United States declared War on Japan on December 8th. In response, the United States joined World War II.

Many Japanese Military Leaders had Mixed Feelings about the Attack and according to Reports, Fleet Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, who was responsible for Planning the Attack, wrote in his Diary, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve”.

The Intention of the Attack by the Japanese was to prevent the United States Pacific Fleet from Interfering with their Military Operations in Southeast Asia, and some Leaders Figured that Attacking Pearl Harbor would Devastate the US and force them to lift all their Embargoes and Sanctions on Japanese Trade as Pearl Harbor was a Major Fueling Station for the US Navy and a Valuable Asset to the US.

Midway Atoll, United States Minor Outlying Islands

On June 4, 1942, a Japanese fleet heading towards Midway Islands with intent to invade, was intercepted by the US Navy. This battle lasted around 4 days. This battle became a major role in the war as this was marked the first major victory for the US which eventually led them to defeat the Japanese Empire. After the victory, American citizens began to feel hopeful in their efforts in the war and began to get a sense of optimism and relief. In this battle, 3374 people died and over 150 aircraft were destroyed, showing how impactful and major this battle was.

August 6th, there was a aromatic bombing code named little boy over hiroshima on a important japanese military center, after the bombing every building was distorted but Japan's leader was still hesitant to surrender. then a second bombing happened code named fat man and it killed 200,000 people. Emperor Hirohito was horrified by the bomb. “I cannot bear to see my innocent people suffer any longer,” he told Japan’s leaders tearfully. Then he ordered them to draw up papers “to end the war.”

I think this was the biggest battle not just because it needed the war because it had a big impact on everyone. I think this was like a payback on pearl harbor attack. this is truly one of the important battles.

Solomon Islands

The first Allied offensive began in August 1942 when 19,000 troops stormed Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. By the time the Japanese abandoned Guadalcanal six months later, they called it the Island of Death. Guadalcanal marked Japan’s first defeat on land, but not its last. The Americans continued leapfrogging across the Pacific toward Japan, and in October 1944, some 178,000 Allied troops and 738 ships converged on Leyte Island in the Philippines.

I think this pushed Japan's limits but they still fought. this battle was a really big part of ww2 because it lead people to to a stronger fight. I think the outcome was well deserved.
