Conscientious

Low Level: Being carefree can sometimes come off as "lazy". It explains why tend to put things off until I have to do them. For example, I procrastinate when I know have a huge amount of homework. I also struggle keeping up with and meeting deadlines. While being dependable and organized is good, being relaxed is also important.

Neuroticism

Low level: I think my neuroticism is low because I am not easily irritated by things. It could explain why I am not very anxious in most situations. I think it's important to not dwell on things that only make you tense up. For example, even if I'm having a bad day, it takes a lot to get me mad. Being neurotic also keeps you from being happy, or even calm

Openness: high level: I am interested in new and creative ideas. I think imagination is important to create a variety of new ideas. Openness could also explain my curiosity because I am open to new experiences. You learn more if you have experienced more. Curiosity is also important to gather knowledge. To me, being open minded helps you learn more and have a "freer" and independent life.

Realistic

Id (immediate pleasure) - As a child, if there was something I wanted, like a toy, I'd through a tantrum until I got it, not caring if that was right or wrong. I was thinking impulsively. However, it would be unrealistic that a tantrum would work now. This could show how I'm realistic because I'm focused on the most possible outcome. Acting on Id is kind of the oppisite of being realistic because you don't think through your actions and don't have a practical way of getting what you want.

Ego (defense mechanisms)

Projection- I usually use projection when I'm reminded of my own faults and don't want to think about them. For example, when my parents say I'm lazy, I say they aren't helpful. I don't say this to hurt the other person, I say this to distract myself from my own shortcomings. Projection explains why I want to put the blame on other people, instead of taking responsibility for my own faults.

Repression- When I have a memory that I don't want to remember, I don't pretend it didn't happened, but I don't want to be reminded of it either. I would use repression when I want to restrain the memories or the emotions of something that happened. For example, if someone brings it up, changing the subject or redirecting my attention to something else seems like the best option. Repression explains why I want to forget a bad situation quickly.

Superego (conscience) - I know right from wrong and I use these to make decisions. For example, when you I want to earn something, like a high grade, the right thing to do is to work hard for it, not cheat. I have learned in life focusing on the future makes you more responsible. This is because what choice I make now, impacts my future. So, I have learned to think more rationally. Being realistic is also important so you don't have unachievable expectations for the future.

Love & Belonging

I think loyalty is important in feeling like you belong. In any friendship or family relationship, both people need to know they are supported by the other. For example, I'd help a friend if something was bothering them. I'd want them to do the same for me. Loyalty is key to form a bond with someone. It makes the relationship stronger because you have someone to rely on. Also, it creates more trust and shows allegiance.

Esteem

Being a candid and honest person is important to be satisfied with yourself. Self esteem grows if people like you and if you like yourself. People tend to respect others more if they are honest or even blunt. For example, if someone asked me for my opinion on something, I'd give a truthful answer even if everyone else was saying something else. Some people think going along with what others say is easier. I disagree because I wouldn't think of myself to be sincere or frank. Honesty is an important trait to have because it gives you pride and makes you more brave. I think having a high self esteem is important because it ensures you are satisfied with the person you are.

Real vs Ideal Self

Ideal (what you want to be)

My ideal self is someone who knows exactly what their goals are and how to reach them. I would also want to be someone who is living their life to the fullest. Something I admire in other people is creativity and originality. These people are generally not afraid to be themselves. My ideal self would be more like this. I think having an ideal self that is too far from your self can be a good and bad thing. It is good to want to improve yourself but if the ideal is too different, it can make you dissatisfied with your own self.

Real (who you actually are)

In reality, I don't think I'm that far from my ideal self. I wouldn't change any of my personality traits. However, I would like to get my priorities in order. I still do not know what job I want when I grow up. I want to be careful about what I decide so that when I have the job, I won't regret choosing it. Also my real self is bit more lazy than my ideal self. I think this will change over time.
