We also used Photoshop to generate our promotion advert and digipak, selecting international paper with 600 pixels for height x 400 pixels for width, this being a vertical A4 page(advert) horizontal A4 for the digipak. Photoshop endorses features that help to design and style our very own magazine advert and our 6-panelled digipak. There are different tools that helped us get our preferred look. The main basic tool we had used was the magic wand tool, this helped us eliminate and cut away areas in the image we didn’t want and bring forward the areas we do want. The Marquee tool helped us take an image of another image. The magnetic lasso tool was also very common for me to use, this was just where you would have trace (free-hand) the outline of the image you want and click the marquee tool to move the image to another part.

The use of tripod meant that it would reduce the chance of our footage looking shaky and uncomfortable to watch by increasing the steadiness of the moving images, the tri pod positively impacted our footage. The tri pod that we used had a hand held panning apparatus; this helped us immensely for some of the shots created. The panning/tracking tool encouraged the footage to look smooth and effortless, which was very effective in order to create a professional piece. The location (woods) really helped define the situation and narrative. When we had the chance to film, we wanted the atmosphere to be denoted as eerie due to the lyrical connotations of the track (Ivy and Gold- The Town), the weather fulfilled our expectations as it was dull however, not too enigmatic so that too much was revealed. However, during of the day the sun exposure wasn’t a major issue because the sunset was setting in a gradual way, but because we our filming schedule was over the course of two days, it was difficult to replicate the exact weather that was evident the day before. This was quite distressing, because we didn’t want our viewers to identify any continuity errors. To prevent the shadows forming in our shots we used various camera angles to avoid and cut out the shadows completely and or altering the position of the camera; this is one great way to avoid unwanted silhouettes. We all ensured to incorporate camera techniques such as the ‘rule of thirds’ and the ‘golden mean’. These both help the audience to direct the concentration to a certain area; directors would use this method to add a focal point to camera shot, so this is what we did also to add meaning and impact of the viewers.

To create our final music video, we had used a video editing software called Adobe Premiere Elements on the Apple iMacs. We decided that our production would be easily edited on this software instead iMovie. This is because Premiere Elements is considered to be fairly simple to use due to the plethora of options to choose from to edit our project. This software enables the advanced editing for a large amount of footage which is was beneficial for our group due to the plenty of footage we had to edit in order to construct a successful music video.

For our music production this year we had decided that we needed to use a software that was much more advanced than iMovie; this was Adobe Premiere Elements. We had used this programme for our music video preliminary so we could gain a better understanding of how it will look in the future when we start to create our official music production. We imported the footage and then selected all the short clips we needed to produce an entire music video, we chronologically added it to a new timeline so we could cut and modify it to our own preference. Cropping the clips to an appropriate length helped us accomplish the fast-paced video that we were aiming for. We tried to experiment with this software, for example reverse shots were used to entice our audience and create a sense of chaos. We were unsure on how to do this transition and so we research it using google search engine and discovered the process on how to do using the setting tab. We had to watch a number of YouTube videos to understand how to edit our clips efficiently and the way in which we anticipated. We came across some technical issues when trying to edit, for example when importing the track onto the timeline, it would become broken and would stop and start whilst the footage was playing. To overcome this, we had to remove the track every once in a while, and then re uploading it at the end. Once we got a hang of the editing process we eventually got used to the software and understood how and what the next steps should be to overcome problems and so therefore our editing skills improved in due time as we kept practicing. We tried to use different coloured layers however as we saw the final result we found that it looked obnoxious and illegitimate, we thought it would make it look professional however it looked the opposite and so we discarded these changes and reverted back to the original filter. Instead of using filter we ended up integrating several transitions this was evident where the two protagonists fell asleep. We used a fade as well as when Kirsten’s eyes fade into the antagonists (wolf’s) eyes. Adding transition liked this made our production more appealing to the eye as its seen as amusing and intriguing to our consumers.
