The first paragraph we get to read in the book we already have a very personal quote from out main character, "Butter". "You think i eat a lot now? That's nothing. Tune in December 31st, when I will stream a live webcast of my last meal. Death row inmates get one. Why shouldn't I? If you can stomach it, you're invited to watch....as i eat myself to death. -Butter" With this quote from butter we can already see that he is a over weighted kid who hates himself for being fat. He want to be normal, but he can't due to his large size. This shows us how Butter is in life and how he hates himself for it.

It's the morning at Butter has gotten up for breakfast. As he sits down at the table he notices his dad siting there. "What's the word dad? Anything interesting in there?" His dad ignores him and just keeps reading his newspaper. The conflict I find in this is that his father has ignored him due to him being over weight. Proof of this shows just a bit latter in the book when butter mentions that his dad had given up on him when he gotten big. His dad had tried to get him into a gym but that didn't work. All that did was start the arguing between the two. This conflict reminds me of the conflict Jing-mei Has with her mother. All the two want to due is meet their parents expectations. But they both fail to due so.
