He died April 22, 1778. He was born near Blackburn. Hargreaves received no formal education and was unable to read or write. James worked as a carpenter and a weaver but wanted to be an engineer. He helped all the factory workers with making there cloth at there jobs. He didn't become an inventor until 1740. Fun little fact he named the spinning jenny after his wife. The spinning jenny was really made for just at home use . But then he began to sell them. The spinning jenny helped making cloth go faster basically sped up the process of making it.
