Emmanuel is a character that we have no knowledge of his true existence but according to Big Brother he tried to rebel and is the reason Oceania is the way it is. We believe he's a made up figure whose sole purpose is to a figure who recieves the blame of the world by the society adverting their anger off of Big Brother.
BIG BROTHER
Big brother was never acknowledged as a true person or just a figure that symbolizes power. its the main perpetrator of the type of propaganda that rules over society. bBig brother rules out of fear and makes sure that the society is aware of its existence whether it really exists or not.
JULIA
Julia is a beautiful black haired girl and also happens to be the love interest of Winston. She works in the ministry of love and slips winston a piece of paper admitting her love for him. Her reasons for rebellions are more for her own personal gain not necessarily for the evolution of Oceania
SYME
Some is a nother citizen Winston met that works at the ministry of truth with Winston except his job is solo and is Newspeak which means getting rid of vocabulary and eliminating the abilities of the societies ability to communicate. Winston fears that he will be vaporized because he has knowledge of the society that no one else has and is a little too talkative and enthusiastic of his job. If he's kept alive he could pose a threat for the society in the future.
WINSTON
Winston is the main character in 1984. He the primary character that starts to have rebellious thoughts and actions as he's seeing over time how corrupt the society is. He realizes how brainwashed the citizens are and how propaganda is everywhere. He is scared for the future of the society and believes if Big brother is not stopped they will never be and eventually own other people.
O'BRIEN
Orrin was a caring guy that let Julia and winston stay in his little room with no surveillance above his book store shop and he also shared the interest of a progressive future just like winston did. He was also believed to be apart of the brotherhood which is a resistance against big brother formed to stop corruption int he society.
MR. CHARRINGTON
Mr charring ton in a way is an antagonist in 1984. He's what we call a two faced jerk. He gained winston trust and made him believe he was against Big Bother. Winston is constantly being tested on his will and commitment to the society being careful not to fall victim to rebellion. His mind is an advanced one and the society just isn't looking as perfect as it used to be. he eventually meet a beautiful girl who also tests his ability to follow societal rules avoiding any emotional connections. Its very intriguing and the aspect of the further you read the more you uncover and it almost feels as if your solving an evil puzzle and the further you get the worse it becomes so i really enjoyed reading it. In my opinion orwell was trying to send out a message of don't just believe a government you have to question it so they don't gain full control over its people.
