• What got you interested in the environment?

I am from San Diego, CA but I spend half the year in Manteo, NC with my dad.

At NC State, I am most excited to meet lots of new people and learn about the topics that interest me most.

What got me interested in the environment was growing up at the beach because I realized how much the planet relies on a clean and healthy environment to thrive.

At State, I am super excited to meet new people/friends as well as attend all of the fun school traditions like Packapaloza and the Midnight Howl and run.

Growing up, I have always taken an interest to the environment, but it was not until junior year in high school that I decided I wanted to pursue a career in conservation. I was able to take an internship at Wake Forest University's biology department, where I assisted in conducting research on the deer population of Pilot Mountain. I found it really fascinating to observe the human influence on the surrounding area!

At State, I'm most excited about meeting new people, getting out of my comfort zone, and challenging myself to grow and learn this semester.

The environment, and how I can help take care of it, have always been a concern for me. But it wasn't until I took APES in high school that I realized how interesting environmental science could be, and my interest was sparked.

At NC State, I'm looking forward to immersing myself with lots of new people and experiences so that I can grow into the best version of myself. I'm also excited to explore and take advantage of all the cool resources on campus.

Growing up, my mom always took me to the beach, parks, museums, etc, so I've always been curious about plants and animals. Learning move about the natural world and how humans impact it always motivates me to learn more and get involved!

I am from Hickory which is in Western Carolina!

I grew up on a farm so my love for animals developed into a passion for nature and taking care of our beautiful environment

For me, I'm most excited about socializing with friends and fellow peers whatever that may be—studying, game nights, hiking, classes, etc.

Growing up in a rural town instilled a love for nature within me; however, it was my AP Biology class that really got me invested. We took a back-packing trip before beginning our ecology unit, and the experience really changed my perceptive and set me up for where I am now. After the flooding in my hometown last year from Helene, I knew I had to wield this passion to aid and protect rural ecosystems.

I am attending NC State under Zoology and hopefully Animal Science with a concentration in Veterinary Bioscience.

I am most excited about the massive amount of students and clubs spanning across every interest possible!

My burning love for animals has lead me to care about way more than just their survival. In order for species to thrive, their surrounding environment must be studied and protected as well!

I am most exited about meeting new people and creating a new network or friends and mentors!

What drove my passion for the environmental science was my empathy and love for animals. I want to strive to help protect their livelihoods and their habitats from encroachment!

I am excited for my pursuit of higher education. I look forward to the memories that I will make here and the life experiences that I will gather. My love for the environment and science started with my parents.

The thing sparked my interest in the environment first time was when I was 7 years old. I went to camping with mu family and experienced a lot of miracles of nature. And that gave me an interests and lead me to envi sci major.
