-There were over 200 people that were accused of being witches but only 20 were executed. Also the people that accused them for being witches.
When did the Salem Witch Trials take place?
They started in the year 1692 and ended on May 16th, 1693.

But of course it went it out of hand. Knowing that there was either confessing and being embarrassed or let it keep going like it was real and no one knowing it was a joke. Document G definitely agrees with me instead of facing their well deserved punishments they kept their act going. They did so by appearing at every witch trial. The girls chose to keep the rumor going. Document H says that the girls performed the acts on their own. This caused it to seem like Bridget was an actual witch and that made many people believe that witches were real seeing how they acted near her. In Document F it says the girls and Bridget were and when Bridget moved the girls had a dramatic reaction to it. It was very easy for the girls to have seen her move and copy her just make it like she was hurting them. This again to keep the witch thing going on so they didn't have to confess. Then why did it keep going after the girls had finished? I think that when people found out about this witch rumor they used it to their advantage to harm their enemies. Document K, L, and M are all connected. The daughter of the Putnam''s and the Husband of Ann Putnam claimed that Rebekkah Nurse was a witch, Who is Rebekkah Nurse? She's a woman from TOPSFIELD. Why is that information important? Well in document M we are told that the Putnam's and Topsfield's authority do not like eachother. Knowing this I can infer that The Putnam's wanted to have revenge on Topsfield and they did so by claiming one of their people as a witch. They suggest that the bread was what caused them to act like that and there weren't actually any witches. A reason I don't believe this was brought up in class. It was very unlikely that only one person in the family was affected by it. They all ate the same bread yet only one got affected. They did so by pretending that there was a witch. They helped their accusations by faking their performances of being tortured. Once there was no turning back they continued doing what the other people of the community expected them to do.
