Frederic Ozanam was born on the 23rd of April 1813 in Milan, Italy, which at the time was occupied by the French. He the fifth of fourteen children, which were soon reduced to four. During the 1800s there was nothing but homelessness, disease, death, and poverty. Mr. Frederick Ozanam, a Christian, was a man who had frequent encounters with areas ridden with these unfortunate circumstances, due to the root he took home from university. The more time that passed the more he began to feel pity towards the families who had been unfairly subjected to these horrible conditions. After that, an anti-religious opponent in a debating society had sparked Frederik's passion. He worked with friends and created a small group know today as Saint Vincent De Paul. They were a group that served the community by responding to the needs of others. Within a year of starting the organization, the memberships had expanded to over 100. After that members kept on coming and coming. Frederic died on the 18th of September 1853 and was beatified on the 22nd of August 1997.

Frederic was in a type of debating society during university called the 'Conference of History'. The president was a man named Emmanuel Bailley, and Frederic was his deputy. this club welcomed all those wanting to join, regardless of their religious or political connections. They were young men who were passionate about their faiths, and were one day asked a question, what were they doing for the poor? awoken by this question, young Frederic and his friends were determined to do something. They went on to rename themselves 'Conference of Charity'. Responding to the needs of the poor such as giving left over firewood to the people in their neighbor hoods.
