Below Nigeria is the Gulf of Guinea. There are 2 rivers that form a Y in Nigeria which divides the country into 3 regions. North Nigeria has flat and high plains then rising up out of these plains is something called the Jos Plateau. Lake Chad an important lake that is shrinking. The harmattan coats pretty much everything with gritty and fine sand in north Nigeria. In western Nigeria is on the Gulf of Guinea near a wide bay called the Bight of Benin. In the western Nigeria, the Niger River forms the eastern and northern Nigeria. A lot of western Nigeria is a savanna. The eastern part of Nigeria is on the Gulf of Guinea next to a second bay called the Bight of Biafra. In the eastern part of Nigeria, the Benue River forms the northern edge and the Niger River forms the western edge of eastern Nigeria. What lines the coast of Nigeria is swamps. The Niger River has built up a big delta where the delta gets in the Gulf of Guinea and the Niger Delta is one of the earth’s biggest wetlands and it has Nigeria’s big oil deposits.

Depending on the location, Nigeria has a climate that is tropical with changeable dry and rainy seasons. In Nigeria, it’s wet and hot most times of the year in the southeast and dry farther inland and in the southwest. In the west and north has a savanna climate. A steppe climate with a small amount of precipitation is in the far north of Nigeria. The length of seasons that are rainy lowers from south to north. Humidity and temperature are pretty constant all year in the south and the seasons in the north vary greatly. In the north, humidity is mainly high but the humidity decreases during the harmattan.
