The reason Cheetahs are close to extinction is because they are losing their prey to predators like lions and hyenas. Another reason Cheetahs are going extinct is because the mama cheetah is leaving her cub to go look for food, but little does she know there are predators everywhere around the cub and next thing you know the cub is dead.

One disadvantage is that if they stop becoming extinct and we put them back out on their own they won't know how to survive. They will keep getting eaten by lions and hyenas. Another disadvantage is that we can't hold every cheetah that is out there in the wild because we don't know where some of them are.

Scientists are trying to keep some cheetahs in a habitat for the zoo, so that they don't go completely extinct. They are trying to capture as many as they can but capturing even one cheetah takes a lot of talent. Plus it takes a lot of money to capture a cheetah because of the tools you have to use.
