         <description><![CDATA[<div>Proclamation of 1763-&nbsp; At the end of the French and Indian war the British issued a proclamation. The new British politics restricted Indian trade. It reserved lands west of the Appalachian Mts. for Indians and forbid White settlement.<br>Stamp Act-&nbsp; The stamp act is an act for granting and applying different stamp duties, in the British colonies and plantations in America, towards further defraying the expenses of defending, protecting, and securing the same; and for amending such parts of the several acts of parliament relating to the trade and revenues of the said colonies and plantations, as direct the manner of determining and recovering the penalties and forfeitures therein mentioned.<br>Intolerable Acts- The&nbsp; parliament was fed up with the colonial antics. The intolerable acts is a  series of acts British Parliament passed in 1774 in reaction to the Boston Tea Party. The British called the responsive measures to the Boston Tea Party the Coercive Acts.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<strong>In 1763, a </strong><strong><em>Proclamation </em></strong><strong>by the English government declared that all land west of the Appalachian Mountains would be reserved for the Native Americans and prohibited white settlers from settling. This proclamation also stated that Native Americans were now restricted in trading.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In 1774, the </strong><strong><em>intolerable acts</em></strong><strong> were passed. These acts were a form of punishment for the colonial rebellion.  As a result, the Boston Harbor was closed, only food and firewood was allowed into the harbor, and  town meetings were also banned. <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In 1764, British Parliament passed the </strong><strong><em>Stamp Act</em></strong><strong>. To pay off the military debt of defending the colonies, tax was added onto legal documents, newspapers, cards and calendars.</strong></div>]]></description>

The British could tolerate strongly worded letters or trade boycotts. They could put up with defiant legislatures and harassed customs officials to an extent.<br><br>Stamp Act- To increase revenues to pay the cost of militarily defending the colonies, Parliament passed the Stamp Act, which required a tax stamp on legal documents, almanacs, newspapers, pamphlets, and playing cards. This was the first direct tax Parliament had ever levied on the colonies and a violation of the principle that only the colonies' legislative assemblies could impose taxes.
