Sadly the original Ident for distribution we had created was lost but we had previously discussed the use of "Universal Studios" as our distribution company for it was reputable and well known although our original if not lost would have been nice and fitting to use.

Why was Universal chosen?

Due to previous discussion and research of distribution companies such as 20th century fox and Lionsgate we realised that 20th century fox although distributing X-men and fantastic four they weren't really what we were looking for because they were all extremely high end and budget films with already a huge franchise and following behind them. Lionsgate would of been a great distribution company to have chosen but sadly most of their superhero films were animated and rather indie and unheard of so the chances of the film doing well seemed rather slim. Columbia pictures was then an option considered for they had a great range of superhero comedies such as Hancock and Hellboy but they did not seem widely accepting of indie films so that was put to one side.

Universal studios when discussed felt right because the were reputable and when the time for sequels came such as both hellboy2 and kickass2 they were the distribution company chosen because they know how to handle distribution well and as its known sequels don't tend to do as well but they managed to still achieve $60,795,985 for kickass 2, Columbia pictures handled the distribution of the first hellboy as had a worldwide gross of $99,318,987 which is a high 8 figures but when universal distributed the sequel hellboy 2 they achieved $160,388,063 which a massive increase compared to the original. Universal is very well known by our target audience which is teenagers and young adults so universal is very good at marketing to them with things like online marketing campaigns and social media marketing and with such a large name and following fans are more willing to give the film a chance although with a small budget their expectations might be a bit too high for the film to satisfy.

How it will be distributed

For an indie film with little to no following even with universals distribution the film wouldn't be heavily marketed mainly on social media and online which is most efficient and cheap so a simultaneous release would be best with only a few cinemas showing the film this way it enables our target audience to view it using different mediums such as online which is extremely beneficial because then it can be accessed as soon as possible which will gather a following which is much better than waiting till the small amount of hype of the film is gone to release it and it takes out the reliance on the cinema greatly plus people are more likely to watch something that they don't have to leave their house for. The film should be left as streaming and downloadable for physical copies will cost a lot for little sales for its the older generation that will buy DVD's but they are not the target audience and with marketing mainly being online there will be much less exposure to those older decreasing the chance of them buying a physical copy even further.
