More reading comprehension strategies for those that attendance/motivation is not a problem. Less independent work time, more we do work time OR frequent check-ins during independent work time. </p>]]></description>

Stop pursuing the students who don&#39;t go to class/don&#39;t want to be here and focus our time on the kids who do go to class and do want to excel.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Even the students that don't go to class can be reached in the hallway, other classes, etc. Absences lead to missing work, which lead to the Fs. In order to get them to the other side of apathy, we can't hold them to it. We could try to engage positively, even though it is frustrating. "We missed you in class, I was really looking forward to what you came up with on the project." "I saw you working hard at practice yesterday!" "How was your weekend?" etc. Celebrate when they come to class/turn work in.</p>]]></description>

From my experience the more ELLs I have in a class the more they want to mess around and copy work, whereas my classes with fewer ELLs tend to be more focused and productive. Closer working with case managers too, I often only receive the accommodations packet and then zero followup or check-ins when a SPED student is failing in my class.</p>]]></description>

         <title>First, teacher need to ensure they are providing students with the accommodations in the IEP. Then teachers should talk to the student to see what changes if possible, could help the student work towards success. With that said, students with disabilities can fail if they are not doing their part in the process. We are not helping students by &quot;just passing them.&quot;</title>
