More 1 on 1 intervention with students, I use missing work lists ( :( I know it takes time). More reading comprehension strategies for those that attendance/motivation is not a problem. Less independent work time, more we do work time OR frequent check-ins during independent work time.

Building wide strategies to build skills such as Frayer model for vocabulary, Cornell notes, and a specific writing strategy to build paragraphs and thought development. Boot camp, Modified schedule to increase time in subject tested courses, and focus on developing learning skills horizontally and vertically to enable us to have specific benchmarks to gauge student progression.

Accept the fact that equal opportunity does not mean equal outcome regardless of how badly we think that we can make it so. Stop pursuing the students who don't go to class/don't want to be here and focus our time on the kids who do go to class and do want to excel. Encourage the 8-10% who don't want to play to go E3.

Even the students that don't go to class can be reached in the hallway, other classes, etc. Absences lead to missing work, which lead to the Fs. In order to get them to the other side of apathy, we can't hold them to it. We could try to engage positively, even though it is frustrating. "We missed you in class, I was really looking forward to what you came up with on the project." "I saw you working hard at practice yesterday!" "How was your weekend?" etc. Celebrate when they come to class/turn work in.

We need to have consistently high expectations of students and quit just "passing" them. Yes, those expectations are going to be differentiated, but we need our students to put in effort. So many of them are used to being "passed along."

Cell phone policy, breaking the populations of each group up. From my experience the more ELLs I have in a class the more they want to mess around and copy work, whereas my classes with fewer ELLs tend to be more focused and productive. Closer working with case managers too, I often only receive the accommodations packet and then zero followup or check-ins when a SPED student is failing in my class.

First, teacher need to ensure they are providing students with the accommodations in the IEP. Then teachers should talk to the student to see what changes if possible, could help the student work towards success. With that said, students with disabilities can fail if they are not doing their part in the process. We are not helping students by "just passing them."

I honestly tell them, " I do not want to give you an F so complete these assignments and your grade will go up" even for the kids that have low grade just seeing their grade now up makes them happy. When I am talking about grades, I mention the student and give him/her praise.

Explaining expectations for student work, where to find missing assignments. How to navigate canvas for each class because they are all different. Explaining how the grading works on assignments for each class. Making actual contact with guardians not just a talking points message. Explaining to guardians the expectations of their student and how to help them succeed.

Case managers need to be more pro-active and involved with their students and with the regular classroom teachers.
