What does it really take to produce food for each and every people here in our planet? We the 7.5 Billion Human Beings living in Planet Earth are the ones who are responsible to produce what we should eat, but I am aware that not all people live the same. Others may get their food instantly but others may need to work three quarters of their lives just to sustain their needs, and food mainly is their primary concern.

Not hidden between our knowledge that in Africa they lack food supply for their people probably because of poverty and lack of equipments to produce food, well even their natural resources aren’t sustainable.

Let us just imagine 12 million hectares of land that become desolated and barren because of desertification and uncultivatability. This could’ve helped for food production if it was prevented beforehand. Planting trees, fruit bearing crops or even grains can definitely make a change. As in this young age we in this generation can cause change, even though it’s small, it’s still change that can grow if we’ll work into it together.

Somehow, 2050 was the estimated year that the world should increase food production to attend on every person’s needs. But in my view we should do it now. Can you see the intense growing of the world’s population? What if we can’t produce a justifiable amount of food that the world needs? But food production isn’t an easy task, so therefore we should take actions on how to facilitate it for our next generations, because if not now, then when?

Amidst the food crisis in Africa the University of Bern in partnership with Syngenta Foundation is working all out to improve Eragrostis-tef, also known as teff, Williams' lovegrass or annual bunch grass, is an annual grass, a species of lovegrass native to the Horn of Africa, notably what is today modern-day Ethiopia and Eritrea, which is still part of Africa. It is cultivated for its edible seeds, also known as teff. This is for increased food supply in Ethiopia.

On the other hand, PABRA or Pan-Africa Bean Research Alliance, a consortium of 30 bean-producing countries in Africa campaigns a healthier and prosperous Africa: AVISA project for faster agricultural gains in the seven countries of Africa. They vowed to provide better beans for Africa so that they made it a modern commodity.

Beans are the most consumed legume in Africa as well stated on the paragraphs seen above. Approximately 6 million beans are in Africa. By means of that I conclude that they are the most accessible kind of legumes homing Africa.

We shouldn’t waste any food that is handed and given to us, we may not know where they exactly came from but let’s just take time to thank God for providing us what we need because not all of us are lucky to have that kind of privilege.

And that’s my Food from Thought.
