May is celebration and completion month for seniors! This is the time when students should be finishing coursework, attending senior events, confirming graduation requirements, and completing final steps for life after high school. Your support this month can help reduce stress and make sure your senior is ready for graduation on May 14.

🧠 For All Senior Families

✅ Encourage your student to maintain strong attendance and finish all coursework — final grades and transcripts still matter.
✅ Check in with your student to make sure they are on track for graduation and that any final credit or requirement concerns are addressed immediately.
✅ Remind your student to check their school email daily for graduation updates, senior event reminders, and final announcements.
✅ Confirm that your student’s cap and gown are ordered, paid for, and ready for graduation.
✅ Ask whether the Senior Survey has been completed and postsecondary plans have been updated.
✅ Help your student locate and organize important documents such as a photo ID, Social Security card, birth certificate, and school records.
✅ Make sure all school fines, fees, textbooks, technology, uniforms, and other obligations are taken care of before graduation.
✅ Watch for details about Senior Breakfast, Razz Awards, Class Photo, graduation rehearsal, and other end-of-year senior events.

💻 Make sure the 2026–2027 FAFSA has been submitted and that any corrections or verification steps are completed.

🏫 Help your student confirm their final college decision and submit an enrollment deposit if required.

💼 If Your Senior Is Job-Bound or Entering a Technical Program

🧾 Encourage your student to finalize their resume and continue applying for full-time employment.

🤝 Connect with the College & Career Center or Workforce Alliance for job leads and support.
🏫 If your student plans to attend WSU Tech, Cowley, Butler, or another technical program, make sure enrollment, placement testing, orientation, and financial aid steps are complete.

🚌 Help your student create a realistic plan for transportation, budgeting, work schedule, and savings after graduation.

May is the month to finish strong, celebrate success, and prepare for the next chapter. Your support, reminders, and encouragement can make a big difference as your senior gets ready to cross the stage.

How to Create Your FSA ID

1. Visit the FSA ID Website: Go to the official FSA ID website at https://studentaid.gov/ .

2. Select “Create an FSA ID”: Click on the button to start the creation process.

3. Provide Your Information: Fill in the required personal information, including your name, date of birth, and Social Security number. Make sure the details match those on your Social Security card.

4. Create a Username and Password: Choose a username and a password that meets the security requirements. Make sure to remember these, as you’ll need them to log in later.

5. Set Up Security Questions: Choose and answer security questions to help you recover your account if you forget your login details.

6. Verify Your Email and Phone Number: You’ll receive a verification link via email and a code via text (if you provided a mobile number). Follow the instructions to verify both.

7. Review and Submit: Check all the information you provided, then submit your application.

8. Keep Your FSA ID Safe: Once created, keep your FSA ID secure. You’ll need it for your FAFSA and to manage your federal student aid.

Additional Tips

• You can create an FSA ID for your parent if you’re a dependent student, but they will need their own information.

• If you have trouble, the website offers help and FAQs to guide you through the process.
