News and journalists keep talking about how Cinque and the other Africans planned to kill the Spanish captain and how they managed to escape. Cinque went to court and John Quincy Adams was the attorney of the cases they won the case and the court declared to be free. He knew slavery was immoral and fought throughout his career to advance universal freedom. His advocacy helped lay the groundwork for the abolition movement. The Supreme Court ruled for the Africans, accepting the argument that they were never citizens of Spain and were illegally taken from Africa where they lived in a state of freedom. This case raised the funds to make the abolition movement huge and heard all over the country marking a victory where society can change.
