because of lack of food, Jewish populations lacked the correct nutrition to stay healthy and have strong immune systems to fight off the spreading diseases that were rampant throughout the ghettos. 
due to the diseases spreading and starvation, alot of the people living in the ghettos were dying causing grief in the community, they were loosing friends and family.
