censorship is a blunt instrument and not a great solution because not only does it infringe on freedom of expression, it also has unintended consequences of driving more people to less regulated platforms, can exacerbate polarization that further erodes social cohesion, and doesn't address the reasons people were sharing harmful narratives in the first place. Also problematical given lack of transparency about these decisions. From a pragmatic perspective too, it's important that public health teams can hear what people are publicly sharing to better understand the main sources of confusion to help adapt health programmes accordingly. So 'takedowns' are harmful in more ways than one. (Christine)
