Due to this tsunami there was a lack of early warning systems in place for these developing countries. Almost none of the countries affected had any warning of the events, Due to this there have been monitors put in place throughout the Indian Ocean to help provide an early warning to help evacuate the area before the disaster strikes. From this tragic loss has brought preparedness for natural disasters to the forefront with countries now investing more into systems to tract the earth's movements and give an early warning when a disaster is going to occur.

The aid that was received was much less than expected for the severity of the tsunami. The emergency response team had struggled to help those in need due to the lack of accessibility to those in need. The roads were either not properly developed or has been ruined by the tsunami. Leaving the only reliable form of transportation by air, which would still result in problems such as a safe landing place and not being prepared for a disaster of this scale.
