Many people find living in rural Mexico a struggle because they have to survive with very little money. Farmland is often overworked and farms are small.

In the last few years, before the latest crisis, thousands of Rohingya were making perilous journeys out of Myanmar to escape communal violence or alleged abuses by the security forces

Amnesty International says the Myanmar military also raped and abused Rohingya women and girls.

To seek a new life and safety in a less crowded environment with reduced fear of disease.

People looked to prosper from Trading opportunities in raw materials from natural resources found in the New World such as sugar, oil, rice, timber, fur, iron, fish, whale, tobacco and cotton 

Immigrants looked for better living conditions in America and many sought to join family members and friends who had already made the journey.

Immigrants sought a safer, less crowded living environment in America
