I chose this topic as I find a lot of lost learning to occur during transitional times and toward end of the day when students want to move around.

A second reason I chose this topic is because during science lessons I find more students to be engaged when they are hands on and active. I would like to research this active learning in all subjects.

Active Learning (1991) shares what active learning is and how it can be used in a classroom. Bonwell and Eison state that “Active learning is anything that involves students in doing things and thinking about the things they are doing" (1991, pg.2). The main focus of this article is to share ways and incorporate active learning into the typical lecture style teaching. This article shares research backed evidence as to how active learning improves students ability to retain information.

Bonwell, C. C., & Eison, J. A. (1991).

An introduction to active learning will guide a teachers begging steps. In the article Active Learning: An Introduction (2009) teachers are introduced to the basic idea of active learning along with ways to become a teacher who focuses on active learning. In this article it talks about the possibilities of active learning being endless and only being stopped or falling short due to your imagination. You will also find general questions in this article to ease your worry about teaching correctly using this technique and helping you understand that time is not a factor during active learning. Many teachers biggest worry is time and when using active learning you are engaging students which allows for more teaching time and less time off task.

Felder, R.M. & Brent, R.
