Borrow from the National STEM Festival and set up then share a schedule of people representing diverse people and job roles to do a 15 minute share-out of how they use CS in their jobs then take Q&A for about 15 minutes. We're going to schedule them once a month the whole fall semester to build excitement and expectation for CS Ed Week. Thinking about doing an additional series aimed at parents about raising a child with opportunities to get ready for their kind of job.

Cookies, Cocoa, and Coding

We invite the community to campus for 2-3 hours of cookies, coca, and Coding fun. Each classroom is a different experience. Some has robots, one has a cryptography challenge, another has virtual reality projects from a local school. Kids and their family code together. It's been so amazing we added an extra hour this year.

In TN we host the Computer Science Momentum Expedition live in the middle of the state (this year couldn't get the venue during actual CS week so it is 12/4 and we're calling it a kickoff to CS Ed week). For one day, drive in and drive out, we have a keynote and exhibitors from about 40-50 different companies and organizations and they talk about the CS skills they need students to have. It is a huge networking event. Like we have drone companies who fly for agricultural projects and entertainment industry pros and automotive managers talking about the CS content every floor worker needs to have. Also includes "field trips" to local industry sites like the Country Music Hall of Fame where they talk about the evolution of digital music production and now AI and ethics. https://www.tsin.org/cs-momentum-expedition

AE STEM Kit Program

The Civil Air Patrol’s Aerospace Education STEM Kit program provides STEM resources for hands-on, inquiry-based learning. The STEM Kit program has been providing a selection of STEM Kits to CAP Unit Aerospace Education Officers (AEOs) and CAP educator members since January 23, 2013, to educate the next generation STEM workforce.

The kits come at no cost to recipients, are designed to enhance current CAP educational curriculum and programs and will be ready for immediate implementation. CAP Unit AE Officers (or commanders), as well as CAP members who are educators, including AFJROTC instructors, can select one kit from the available options.
