This collective of college and high school students are actively fighting against the development of the 76ers Arena that would in turn negatively impact the citizens of Chinatown. While we initially functioned via disruption and active protest, we have turned to building relationships within Chinatown by tabling, screenprinting, and starting the Ginger Arts Center!

Hey Everyone! I wanted to use this Padlet to give some in depth explanations to who I am and what causes/ideas motivate me in my research! The following sections show some insight onto my current motivations and passions within life!

Identity!

My identity as a Black, Puerto Rican, and Queer person within the United States all heavily informs my research, as it does other facets of my life. I feel that without these aspects, I would not have become the person I am today. Through my research, I would like to affirm my own identity and experiences in the world, connect with other people who hold those identities, and finally begin building community that otherwise may not have been instructed. Additionally I would like to connect with ancestors who are no longer experiencing the same world that I am, and affirm their existence as well through my research.

Freedom School for Palestine

This student body is fighting to instate Palestinian Scholarship in the University of Pennsylvania. Among a multitude of other demands, FSP wishes to enlighten the student body, and push for a long-lasting ceasefire in Palestine.

Community!

The overarching theme within all of my reasons to do research lies within community! Within all of these spaces and facets of myself I yearn for and actively look forward to community. I would like my research, as mentioned earlier, to bring together communities. I believe that it is only through a strong, centralized community that we can begin to topple systems that enchain us all actively. While I would love for my research to do this by itself, I believe that continued base building via various methods needs to be sufficiently established before a strong push is made.
