The population pyramid is contractive, has convex sides, with a very low birth rate (9.2 per 1,000 live births), low death rate (13.8 per 1,000), and long life expectancy (72 in men, 78 in women).

However it is likely to go down a stage. The population is shrinking as the median age is rising. The total fertility rate is going down. The crude death rate is inclining.
