I teach 5th and 6th grade Learning Support in two different co-taught classrooms. The students I work with can be very challenging and come from very high poverty areas.  Sometimes it is hard to motivate them to learn when they struggle  academically and socially. I love teaching Special Education and I especially enjoy working in small group settings. 

I am enrolled in GMU in the Master's program for School Counseling. I play rec soccer and coach basketball at my school. I typically spend my summers at the beach in Cape May, or working ESY. This past summer I traveled to Europe with my sisters for the first time. I also helped chaperone our annual 8th grade trip to Puerto Rico in June. That was interesting!

Ideally, I would love to work as a school counselor for a few years, and then focus on counseling students with special needs. I would love to guide these students as they enter high school and plan for post-secondary careers. Unfortunately, so many students do not get the right guidance and end up being failed by the system. 

Last summer, I had the incredible opportunity to travel and teach abroad in Ghana. While there I met dozens of high school students with little to no idea of what they wanted to do with the rest of their lives. I would love to go back to Ghana and work with these individuals on planning for their futures.
