         <title>The Puritans </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Puritans were English protestants, who wanted to get rid of the Catholic Church and learn more from the ideas of John Calvin. The community was  led by a theocracy government and lasted from Queen Elizabeth to King Charles ll. When Queen Elizabeth died King Charles ll dissolved connection between church and state and ordered killings of those who follow a theocracy government. Due to the kings orders the Puritan community fled to the New World in 1620. When the community arrived in North America they established the Massachusetts Bay Colony and practiced their beliefs.<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>The Salem Witch Trials</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The thoughts of these trials began when a group of young girls were taught witchcraft by their Indian maid named Tituba. Hysteria broken out all over North America as word was spread around regarding witches. The group of girls accused and subjected many innocent people who were later tortured and killed. These trials lasted for a year and were ordered in May 1693 to stop due to the accusation of governors wife. All in all over 200 people were accused, nineteen people were hung, four people died in prison and one man was pressed to death.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Calvinism </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The protestant theological system created by John Calvin and his successors in the sixteenth century. His thoughts and theory was spread all over the globe including North America, France , and England. Calvin believed salvation only came from God and felt the Roman Catholic Church belief's were wrong. Puritans adopted Calvinism as they also grew about from the Catholic Church beliefs and wanted to be saved from God. Puritans and John Calvin also believed in witch craft and the severity of the practice, also they believed in the emergence of Satan.<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>City upon the Hill</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A scripture written by Puritan Jon Winthrop explaining "We shall be a city upon a hill, the eyes of all people are upon us." The meaning behind this saying , if Puritans fail to uphold their covenant to God, then their sins and errors will be upheld for the whole world to see. Written as a lecture in front at the Holyrood Church on March 21st. 1630 in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Puritans built colleges such as Harvard and Princeton which taught young men the word and virtue of God. These scriptures helped with determine who was following God and his virtues and who did not follow God.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Arthur Miller </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Arthur Miller was an American playwright and essiansist and is most famous for his creation of "The Crucible". He often wrote his plays criticizing America and Capitalism and was later regarded as a communist. Under US senator John McCarthy Miller was brought by the committee and accused of being an active communist. Speculation rose as he wrote "The Crucible" criticizing McCarthyism and brought up the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 and the Cold War in the 1950's. He brought these troubling times in America to prove a modern point to not make the same mistake twice.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
