They're beginning to discover what they can and cannot do.

Puberty! A teenager's most vile enemy. This is the stage when everything the teenage thought they knew about themselves changes even more. This stage brings a new surge for independence. Per the "Child Development Institution" this stage leads to passive-aggressive behavior, self-consciousness, self-doubt and/ or over-confidence. During this time of a person's life life they really understand the importance of thinking about the future. Unlike when they were younger, when they wouldn't consider the future, thinking things lasted forever. Development in the prefrontal cortex has significant advancement. Long term memory increases, metacognitive skills improve and they become concrete operational thinkers. Their ideas become more abstract and idealistic. At the end of this stage, they become independent adults.
