pg4 - 'This was my first videogame system I ever owned". looking at how a person is getting addicted to video games at a young age because he was around 8 years old when he had his game. It affects him in the long term as you can see how he isolates himself and becomes alone. Isolation is also a social issue that we can point out.

On page 23, on line 23-26, it says."Mrs. G was super-religious and spent most of their time in the OASIS, sitting in the congregation of one of those big online mega-churches, singing hymns, listening to sermons, and taking virtual tours of the Holy Land. This shows that the OASIS is a virtual program where you could play games or participate in online events such as churches, etc. This is very similar to an oculus in real life such as you can play games, participate events,etc.

"I heard rumors; the world is starving, but we're well fed" (70).

Bradbury talks about the world being so consumed by technology, many people are unaware of the social issues happening outside of their comfort zone outside their home. This shows that people are ignorant and no one talks about issues to that do not affect them, as to stop them from evolving, because if it does not concern you then it should not matter to you, there is government censcorship as to conceal people from the truth and make them live in this bubble. In the real world, people are so connected and glued to their screens where they repress their thoughts and emotions of being social, and instead are consumed by their own company and even the government isn't bringing up social issues and have started to conceal them or start censoring them.

literary devices: similies (comparison)

characterization: Mildred's character being consumed by technology and not learning effective things however brain washing subjects in school, reduces smartness; makes it easier for government to control them; Mildred opens up the idea to Montag being able to read books; doesn't fully accept the idea and sets off the alarm; shows her character cannot be open minded and think for herself due to not learning these things and being blasted with brainwashing technology.

Language and setting: Montag wants people to be able to think for themselves; he wants to show people these ideas; he doesn't want books to be censored due to government control as he wants individuality and be a person for himself, not the same person who doesn't notice the little things and be able to express who they are. He uses his ideas against Mildred and her friendsusing complicated lanaguage, just as his young friend did to show the world that she was her own person and they can be two. He uses similie to show how he is distanced from the ladies in the group and felt closer to his young friend as they shared similar ideas and he also questions who he is.
