First: Include the first and last names of each member of your team. 1. List two things that the letter from Columbus to the King and Queen of Spain can tell us about him or his views on the land and/or people of the island he called Hispaniola. 2. What does the letter NOT tell us about Columbus? Think about what might be omitted in his letter.

1. The letter from Columbus to the King and Queen of Spain tells us that Columbus' views on the land are strictly economic and out of greed for profit. We know this because of his ideas regarding taxes and gold. It also tells us that Columbus does not respect the native people of the land and aims to convert them through churches, as well as replace the land with 3 or 4 new towns.

2. The letter does not tell us his reasoning or thought process behind the letter and its contents.

Something that the letter does not tell us is his own ambitions and he benefits from these rules around gold and taxation.
