The American Dream is the idea that in America, success can be achieved by anyone as long as they work hard for it. “This is linked to the United States Declaration of Independence which states that “all men are created equal”. In the novel, George and Lennie have a dream that gives them hope, which drives them to work hard so they can attain their dream and be rewarded. Another character in the book, Curley’s wife, had a dream to be a film star, but she had false hope that it would actually come true.
