Using the app StudyBlue for android I have created a series of flashcard decks for each week of learning. I review each deck at least twice a week, once at beginning and once towards the end. the app tracks which flashcards I struggle with and which I am strong on, so I am targetting my weak spots. I tend to spend 30-40 mins in total on them.

Reflection
I find flash cards particularly useful for my memory of vocabulary verb conjugations, but it is hard to use them for grammar and understanding sentance structure.

30-40 mins total.

I watch videos on youtube following the 2018 Formula 1 season, and I found a german youtube channel that posts content on F1 in german, 'Auto Motor und Sport'.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4MAm-yOmPs
The channel had a specific series following Formula 1 and i watched through some of their past videos. I struggled to understand the majority of the vocabulary, but i occasionaly picked up a few words and could vaguely understand a point from the context.

Reflection
Whilst i don't think this is helping me learn german technically it is helping to immerse me in the language, and using my interests helps a lot to keep it interesting.

50 mins total.

German Learning Podcasts

I decided to search for a german language podcast as i have previously used them when learning Japanese to good effect. After some research I settled on 'Slow German', the podcast covers plenty of topics in beginner level german. I have listened to the podcast on Otto Von Bismarck as I am interested in history. I understood some of the initial sentances but there was a lot of new vocabulary used in it. I translated some of the new vocab on dict.cc to understand it better.

Reflection
I enjoyed listening to the podcast and found the vocabulary to be at the right level for me to understand but also to learn from. I think using these podcasts to expand vocabulary revise simple sentance structure.

I downloaded the Memrise app for my phone and have been slowly using it to just fill in gaps and back up knowledge I already have. I find the app easy to use and it's helpful to just do a few flashcards when waiting for a lecture or in my free time. I used this app a while ago for a different language I was learning and the app has come much further from then.

Reflection
The app is very useful for casual learning and just keeping me thinking about the German I have learnt. The main downside to this is that a lot of content must be paid for.

30 mins total.

I have made some revision flashcards with Der, Die, Das. I have done this for the nominative, accusative and dative cases.Including the definite and indefinite versions of each. It is a lot of flashcards to remember and it helps having an example to noun to go along with each just to contextualize.

Reflection
I have found flashcards to be very helpful during revision periods and these are no exception.

60 mins total.

I watched 'The Lives of Others', the German language film set during the German divide. I watched it with subtitles but focused on the speaking parts as best as I could. The film was very good and I will definitely revisit it when my German is better.

Reflection
I could understand some of the basic sentences, but most of the time it was beyond my language level. I still found times where I could hear the occasional word that I understood, and following the subtitles script I could piece together what some words meant. I think in the future I could write down useful words that I found.

90 mins total.

I found a video on the german cases as I felt I needed some more help with this subject. I watched a few videos including the one supplied on MOLE and found the one linked to be the most helpful. The presenter goes into good detail on the topic and I found it very useful, it will be one to revisit for revision.

Reflection
I found a weakness in my knowledge and decided to find a specific resource to help me understand better, and for this purpose the video worked perfectly. I will be able to use it again in revision as well and making a playlist on youtube of similarly helpful videos would be very useful.

35 mins total.
