“Father said, “Promise me you will stop doing these things. Promise that you will give up this ridiculous game right now, OK?” I said, “I promise.” Pg. 23

For some reason Christopher’s father really doesn’t want him to investigate who killed Wellington. This quote is significant because it shows us about Christopher. Christopher says he never lies but, when he promised not continue the investigation he lied. Christopher calls these, “white lies” but a white lie is still a lie.

“Then I was really confused because Mother had never worked as a secretary for a firm that made things out of steel.” Pg. 44

This is the most significant quote thus far. We’ve learned a fair amount about Christophers mother, the type of relationship they had, how she died and more. This quote and situation raises a lot of questions because the reader starts to get an idea that Christophers mother could possibly be alive.

“And he said, “What’s 251 times 864?” And I thought about this and I said, “216,864.” Because it was a really easy sum because you just multiply 864 * 1,000, which is 864,000. Then you divide it by 4 , which is 216,000, and that’s 250 * 864 . Then you just add another 864 onto it to get 251 * 864 . And that’s 216,864. And I said, “Is that right?” Pg. 30”

This quote challenges peoples preconceived ideas about people with autism or disabilities. Christopher multiplied huge numbers off of the top of his head. The average person most likely to solve that problem that quickly and easily. Christopher isn’t only smart but he’s a lot more intelligent than your average person.

This song is called “Element” by, Kendrick Lamar. In this song Kendrick explains how despite people doubting him, his personal struggles, and obstacles standing in his way he continued to work until he was successful. He didn’t let anything or anyone take him out of his element. If Christopher was a real person I think he would be able to relate to this song because he faces a lot of adversity everyday. He wanted to take A level math questions but his teacher wouldn't let him so he and his father fought to get the A level math classes.

Mrs. Alexander is a mysterious character throughout the book. Firstly, her name is Mrs. Alexandra so, she must be married but we never meet or even hear about her husband. She talks to Christopher constantly even though he obviously doesn’t want to engage in conversations. She says things like she knows Christopher has a computer because She watches him play on it through the window. I thought that was a pretty weird comment to be watching someone through their window.

Noisey

Charming

Mysterious
