Brian Lin-- Risk-taking changes a teen's brain by altering their emotional levels, causing greater risk-taking. emotions such as fear, stress, guilt, and nervousness, as well as attention, were high when they were first exposed to the risk factors. This enables self-control, which prevented them from taking more risks. However, the more they were exposed to the risks the less fearful, guilty and stressed they became. My personal reaction wasn't that surprised since the environment changes a person, with enough repetition your brain and your body will get used to it.

Jessica- I learned that teens who did risk taking actions felt less guilty and more attached to it the more they did it. it surprises me to know that because that is how addiction works. the more you do it, the more you need it. the girl explains that the more risk taking actions they did, the more engaged they were to them. She said that the biggest impact is the habituation (the diminishing of a physiological or emotional response to a frequently repeated stimulus) to risky behavior that undeveloped teen minds have and that is what really keeps kids moving forward with actions like drinking smoking and gambling

Risk-taking makes a person's brain be afraid and stressed at the consequences. But habituation, makes a person get used to the risk and even want to continue it. Then that becomes a habit and they keep repeating that risk to the point they are no longer afraid or stressed. Also, I liked that she went through trials but still kept going to find out why. Even with the school's limited resources she had the determination to test a question. This led her to win first place in the ISEF in "Behavioral and Social Sciences".-Hasan

Teens ages 13-18 are prone to risk taking than children. Teen brain is still in the process of maturation , this makes them poor at decision making. Habituation explains how our brains adapt to some behaviors, like lying, with repeated exposures. The process of habituation also plays a key role in risk-taking and risk escalation. The more risks students took, the more capable student felt of withstanding their unconventional circumstances, leading to more tolerance, resilience and patience . I was surprised to find out that taking more risks led them to be aware of what they were doing. -Toufiq

Teenagers from ages 13-18 are more inclined to make risky decisions. This is is caused by combination of their low level of maturation and poor decision making. In the video Kashfia mentions the affect of habituation and how it causes teenager to repeatedly do certain behaviors such as risk taking. Habituation explains why teenagers are more prone to make poor decisions with high risks, and the more these decisions are practiced the more the are likely to happen again. This information surprised me because I always wondered why teens would put themselves in situations that could potentially hurt them like drug, drinking and gambling. But it makes sense since the environment that you are in can have an effect on you, it might not always have a positive outcome.-Gloria

Teens are trying to damage their own self. From getting the new iPhone to doing 🤬 teens are damaging their brains. As they lie they are gaining more and more knowledge on how to protect themselves from saying the truth. These kids know what they're doing is wrong but they still consider doing it. We need to start finding ways on how to stop these teens from causing more chaos in society---Daniel H

Asif- Risk taking affects a persons brain by questioning whether to do it or not based on the consequences and stress behind it. However, habituation makes the risk taking feel normal, causing the said person to keep repeating their actions. They do this to a point where they no longer feel stressed or scared to take risks anymore. i found the research interesting and also felt proud to see a fellow brown kid of Bangladeshi immigrants accomplishing so much at a young age.
