Formative assessments are ongoing, regular evaluations carried out during the learning process. Their main goal is to give teachers and students feedback on how learning is going. Formative assessments are used to track learning, spot problem areas, and modify training to improve learning outcomes. The goal of these tests, which are often not evaluated, is to direct and improve the learning process.

Summative assessments are thorough evaluations carried out at the end of a learning session, such as a unit, course, or semester. They are mostly used to evaluate students' general learning progress and gauge how well they have learned the course's intended objectives. Summative evaluations are frequently used for grading and to assess students' overall performance.

Diagnostic assessments are small test that learners are given to assess their current knowledge. A diagnostic assessment can be done before or after a skill has been taught. A pre-diagnostic will offer the teacher the chance to see how much teh class knows before topics are taught. This can be anonymous and the students will not be graded. Once the teacher has a clear thought idea on what the class knows, the lesson can be planned accordingly. After each skill has been taught, the teacher can do a quick assessment to see what the student understands. This diagnostic assessment can be given daily after each topic.
