4. In academic study, why do we compare objects, phenomena and ideas?

-The purpose we make comparison between objects, phenomena and ideas in order to get the best one out of others. For example, before we purchase a phone, we will make survey on to the prices, functions and etc. For sure, people will always buy the cheaper items than that of the expensive one. The other reason is to determine and quantify relationships between two or more variables by observing different groups that either by choice or circumstances is exposed to different treatments.

3. Which is more important to consider in this case - similarities or differences - and why?

-In this case, the differences are more important to consider as the different structural toe shape and size might be leaded to different function to the animals.
For example, the size of metatarsal I which is larger in chicken than that of allosaurus. This might contribute to the reason of stability  in chicken.
Besides, people tend to look out for the differences first rather than the similarity because it is easier to understand and characterize something.
