         <title>Physical and Sensory challenges </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>A physical disability means a loss or restriction to a physical function which may affect a person’s mobility, skills or stamina on a long term basis.&nbsp;</li><li>An example of a common physical disability is cerebral palsy which is an ailment where neurological networks between the brain and the muscles of the body are altered, ill-timed or not detected (state Government of Victoria, 2012)&nbsp;</li><li>Sensory and speech disorders are impairments of eyes, ears and speech.&nbsp;<br>For example a mild sensory impairment could be if you wear glasses or contact lenses and visually impairment can range from easily correctable difficulties to total blindness.&nbsp;</li><li>These disorders have a variety of effects on a learner therefore teachers need to be sensitive to a host of issues related to physical and sensory challenges in the classroom. Implementing differentiated teaching in the classroom which allows the class-wide lesson to be tailored to individual needs of each student&nbsp;<br><br></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- According to Australian Bureau of Statistics - most common languages spoken in Australia other than English are Italian, Greek, Cantonese and Mandarin.<br><br>- Research states that it’s now harder for beginner teachers because the number of students entering school with lower English proficiency levels has increased which has essentially increased the responsibilities these teachers now hold. ESL students are often exposed to restricted curriculum as teachers now have to accommodate their pedagogies to a more diverse classroom<br><br>- Technology is now used to help and support ESL students meet their academic goals and standards. The use of web 2.0 tools such a wikis, blogs and youtube is now used to encourage social networking in ESL students. <br><br>- ICT is also used to motivate and engage ESL students in the learning environment and encourage them to actively participate. <br><br> </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>-Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development programme states that 4 of the top 5 school systems reside in countries such as HK, Korea, Shanghai and Singapore with a statistic indication that 15 year old students there perform 2 or 3 levels higher than an average 15 year old from Australia.&nbsp;</div><div>Some characteristics that are taken into account are&nbsp;</div><ul><li>providing high quality teacher education</li><li>Providing mentoring for both teachers and students&nbsp;</li><li>Regard teachers as researchers&nbsp;</li><li>Teachers engage in classroom observation and constructive feedback&nbsp;</li><li>Support teachers and give more responsibility for both learning and teaching</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>There will be children who come from all types of socio-economic statuses. socioeconomic status now has a significant influence on learning - not just an academic term but it also reflects on what life the child has been living which can ultimately affect their academic level and ability</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>Community Socio-educational advantage is used to measure SES variables in Australia which influences students performance in school. These examples include gender, rurality, family structure, parental education, immigrant and indigenous status, economic Resources, parental employment, impairment and social assistance history. </li></ul><div><br></div><div>INFLUENCE: </div><div><br>- Family factors can effect the development of a child and can cause learning problems with poverty being the most serious variety. The official rate has gone up to 12% in 2008 to 11% in 1994. This statistic is prominent among single- parent families being 70%. Children in low SES are less likely to have parents who are well educated and are often neglected or have poor nutrition as well as abuse and violence in the household. </div>]]></description>
