For Christians, love is given to human beings by God and because God loves us we should love one another. This love is called Agape.

Here is a definition of agape from the Bible: 'Love patient; love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil bur rejoices with trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
