In order to find the different types of music we should use for our trailer, I researched lots of real media texts by looking at contemporary horror trailers. In my opinion, the soundtrack of films/trailers plays an essential part overall as it creates the atmosphere and sets the scene. Taking these aspects into consideration, I chose to use YouTube and searched different horror soundtracks from exorcism/paranormal films. The first soundtrack I came across was from the film, The Last Exorcism(2010). I especially liked this soundtrack because i thought it would fit in very well with the first few scenes of our trailer, due to the slow pace of it. However, when we added this soundtrack to the scenes, it didn't really work as well as we thought it would, as the soundtrack was too slow and didn't give a horror feel to the scenes.

The second soundtrack which was quite interesting was the Exorcism of Emily Rose(2005). This soundtrack started off with eerie music which we thought created fear and suspense and would intrigue the audience. Towards the middle of the soundtrack, we realised that the music started to build up and become more tense. We chose to use that part for one of our scenes as it builded up to a jump scare in our trailer. The part we cropped out to use in our trailer was from 2:08-2:11 and the screenshot above, of the title shows where we chose to include it. I think that by choosing to place the soundtrack in that part of the trailer, was a good decision as the scene, overall, created suspense and kept the audiences' attention.

Another soundtrack used in our trailer was from Dead Silence(2007). We chose to use this soundtrack as looking at real media texts we had researched, this was the type of soundtrack typically used in a horror film. For example, in our trailer, we decided to use two parts of this soundtrack and incorporate it into our scenes. From 0:28-0:34, was used in the scene where one of the characters is reading the Bible. We chose to include this part of the soundtrack in that scene as we wanted to build up to a jump scare and thought that this music fitted in really well. Furthermore, to make the scene, overall, look more effective, we also chose to reduce the volume of the soundtrack in the background. Another scene in which we used part of this soundtrack was towards the end of our trailer, after the title of our film was shown. During the transition from the film name title to the last scene of the monstrous feminine under the bed, we included the music from the beginning of the soundtrack until 0:11. We chose this specific bit of the soundtrack as it was slow and built suspense and the audience didn't know what is going to happen.

Initially, we thought of including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(1974) soundtrack, as we had taken inspiration from this film for the first few shots in our trailer. Like TCM, we decided to exhibit images and portray as though they are being taken from a camera, similar to the beginning of TCM. Therefore, we wanted to use the same soundtrack and use it for a similar scene. However, we later changed our mind as we thought that by doing this, our final trailer wouldn't look as original, as we would be doing something indistinguishable, especially because TCM is a well-known film and the soundtrack is easily recognisable. Hence we came to the conclusion of finding a similar soundtrack, which would have the same type of music, yet make our trailer look different .
