Do you agree with the idea that modern readers get more from reading or viewing works of fantasy?

I believe modern readers benefit more by reading works of fantasy. Reading enables them to use their imagination and actually focus on the moral/lesson of the fairy tale. They can use their previous knowledge of archetypes to better understand the story. Whereas, when viewing the work of fantasy, modern readers mainly focus on the high quality pictures and modernized plot as a source of entertainment.
For example, the trailer of modern Cinderella (coming out in 2017) mainly captures the element of entertainment. The moral of the fairy tale is 'hidden' in the background behind the entertaining plot.
