The single story told about refugees is That they are all kids that fled their country because of war. This single story could not be farther from the truth and the group, particularly BIbi Shah from the story "With a new arm, a young war victim finds her artistic talent." Bibi and all of the Refugees try to break this Stereotype by sharing there story's. 7 Year old Shah Bibi had a bad accident during the war and she lost an eyes and her arm. What she did to show that this is she is not a problem she makes abstract art. She does this so that people see that once they are refugees they can still do things. Shah Bibi did not flee her country but was brought to America after she had to be helped. She also did not flee because of war. In Fact she and her family stayed in Afgan even during the war where all the fighting was. Her and her family did not want to leave but when she found something that was a rock, or at least looked like one she had no other choice. Refugees want people to know that these kids live hard lives in the places but also that them and their families are very brave.

There is another single story that is had among us and that is that Refugees are unable to find a living once they come to America. Two girls from Syria are trying to clear this stereotype by showing what they can do. "Everything was good," said 20-year-old Sarah. "That was before the war." That shows what they deal with, having a good life until war hits. The girls in their home country of Syria were swimmers. "After the civil war began in Syria, the Martini family moved around the country to avoid the fighting and tried to ensure that their daughters could keep on swimming." this shows that they did not just want to instantly leave when the war began. Also it shows that they would stay if they could because they were really invested in swimming as their future. "They can swim at the highest level for the Arab world, but there's a difference to Europe because of the training conditions," That one sentence shows just how wrong this stereotype is because they have found a living and a purpose as refugees. I think if the sisters wanted people to know about refugees is that they went through alto to get to where they are.
