Are you a dare devil? In Mirette on the High Wire, the main character, Mirette learns how to walk on a high wire. She learns from a man who is known as the Great Bellini who walks across high wires. The Great Bellini walked across Niagara Falls, then cooked an omelette and opened a bottle champagne. Bellini also crossed the Alps with a basket tied to his feet. The problem with the Great Bellini was he was afraid to walk on the high wire because he didn't want to fall. "Once you have fear on the wire, it never leaves!" Bellini said. The Great Bellini contacts an agent to set up a show where he will walk on a high wire. Read the book to find out how it ends. On a scale of 1-5 stars, I would rate the book 3 out of 5 stars because there needed to be more action in the story.

In this story by Sandra Cisneros, she says that when you’re 11 you’re still all of your other birthdays. You still have emotions, feelings and memories from all of your other ages. In the story, Rachel, the main character turned 11, but she doesn’t feel 11. She felt like 10, 9, 5 ,3 all in one day. In school that day she was mad because the teacher gave her a red sweater that wasn’t hers and she was acting like she was 5. She starts crying in front of everybody. You have to read the story, Eleven to find out more. I would rate this story 4 out 5 stars because I’m turning eleven.

Do you like to read about facts? Not just any facts, but sports facts. In the book The Indianapolis Colts Story, you will find information about the Colts. For example, the book gives a time line that shows major games that the team won. It also gives information on how many points they scored in major games. A list of rivals is also given. The Colts two rival teams are the Houston Texans and the New England Patriots. The Patriots and the Colts would play against each other in the AFC Championship. The Colts and the Texans are rivals because they are in the same conference. It is like our home team The Packers and The Bears. I would give this book 4 out of five stars because I like sports.

By: Nico Medina

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go to prison? In the book Where Is Alcatraz, tells where Alcatraz is, who lived there and how it became a high security prison. Alcatraz is located off the Bay of San Francisco. The first people who came to Alcatraz were Native Americans. Alcatraz was first set up as a fortress. The island was used as a military prison for soldiers who committed crimes. Over time it became a high security prison. It housed criminals like Al Capone, George Kelly and Alvin Karpis. Criminals lived in a small room measuring 9 feet by 5 feet, that had only a bed, a table, a sink and a toilet. The Wodren who ran the prison kept the criminals on a tight schedule. They were up at 7, dressed and ready for breakfast at 7:30. After breakfast some men had jobs to do like working in the kitchen or making buoys. Lights had to be out by 9:30. No one has ever escaped, but has attempted. Three men attempted by digging a tunnel to fit through. They used spoons to make the tunnel. Only two of the men made it out. Their bodies were never found. Only life rafts and vests were scattered over the bay. It was the biggest man hunt in San Francisco history. I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars because it was full of exciting facts.
